Why this Bible?

God’s Word, for all his people

For the curious, the Orthodox, the Roman Catholic and the Protestant, WORD verbatim brings together scripture preserved across the historic Christian traditions in one clear English reading edition.

This edition is a revision that brings together books preserved across the historic Christian traditions, rather than allowing the limits of one printed canon to decide what may edify readers. The books are presented transparently, so they may be read, compared and tested for themselves.

William Tyndale gave the English Bible much of its enduring voice.
John Rogers preserved, completed and carried that work into a full printed Bible.
They believed that Scripture belonged in the hands of ordinary people, in language they could understand.

WORD verbatim continues that work for a new generation.

The language is carefully revised where time has obscured meaning, while preserving the character, strength and clarity inherited from Tyndale and Rogers. The aim is not to place another voice between Scripture and the reader, but to allow the words to speak.

The work so far

Revised New Testament — completed and published
Genesis — completed
Exodus — in progress
Pentateuch — current funded milestone

Help complete the work

Genesis is complete and Exodus is underway.

Our first funded milestone is to complete, check and prepare the five books of the Pentateuch.

SUPPORT PREPARATION OF THE PENTATEUCH:

The wider vision

WORD verbatim is intended to grow beyond a single volume.

The first aim is to complete a clear, dignified reading Bible that brings together the books preserved across the historic Christian traditions.

Rather than allowing the boundaries of one later printed canon to decide what readers may encounter, each book will be considered by the same careful comparative method and presented transparently, with its history and reception acknowledged.

Once the reading edition is complete, the work may continue in a Study Bible edition,
offering fuller textual, historical and canonical notes without interrupting the biblical text itself.

In time, the same method may also be applied to additional ancient works preserved within traditions such as the Ethiopian Church.
